Period 1: English HS: To Kill a Mockingbird (novel)
TUES: Rewrite of the ending of Chapter 1 (handout). In-class and finish at home, if needed.
WED. Chapters 7-11 vocab activity (handout) (group and individual).
WED NIGHT HW: Write down the definition, part of speech, and two sentences for each of these words: candor, valor, savior (not the PROPER noun).
THURS: BEST writing testing for grades 9/10. Others come prepared to read or do other classwork.
Reading Chapters 7-8 in class as a group.
FRI: Chapters 7-11 vocab quiz. Begin reading Chapters 7-11 in class as a group.
Period 2: Reading/Literature/Film (IF ABSENT, see the “period 2” make-up work folder).
TUES: Review vocabulary Chapters 5-7, have a spelling bee.

THURS: Vocabulary review, begin reading chapters 8 – 13.
FRI: Vocabulary quiz, review essay pointers for next week's standardized test.
Period 4: Political Science. A current event presentation is due TUESDAY.
TUES: Group 1 Presentation about the presidential candidate and discussion.
WED: Group 2 Presentation about the presidential candidate and discussion.
THURS: Current issue concerning Mexican President’s demands.
FRI: Current issue concerning Saudi Arabia’s appointment to chair of UN’s top forum for women’s rights.
Period 5: STUDY HALL – 8th grade. This period is intended to offer additional time to complete assignments in all classes, absentee work, and afford help in 8th grade ELA. Come prepared to work and study. Grades are based upon dedication to study and behavior standards.
Period 6: Creative Writing (no class Wednesdays)
During this semester, writing assignments will be given via written handouts with instructions. They may be daily or over several days.
