3rd Period: 6/7th Grade Advanced Reading

Monday: Silent Reading // New Vocab Cards: Summarizing // Play vocab game and begin working on vocab cards

Tuesday: Silent Reading // Complete Summarizing Read and Respond worksheet and review as a class

Wednesday: Silent Reading // Students complete Sum It Up! Summarizing practice worksheets independently

Thursday: Silent Reading // Reading Team Meetings - Map out who reads what on your team for the rest of the year! Who still needs to reach 20 books for their challenge? What genres does your team still need to read to complete your Genre Wheel? Set a date for our Pizza Party!

Friday: Vocab Test: Summarizing // Silent Reading // Mad Libs

4th Period: 8th Grade Reading

Monday: Silent Reading // Holocaust Remembrance writing activity

Tuesday: Watch The Boy in the Striped Pajamas movie

Wednesday: Watch The Boy in the Striped Pajamas movie

Thursday: Silent Reading // Students work in groups to answer in-depth review questions from the movie

Friday: Holocaust Read and Respond Worksheet

5th Period: Creative Writing

Monday: Quick-write in journals // Tall Tales and Short Stories exercise: Students play 2 truths, 1 lie

Tuesday: Quick-write in journals // Choose 1 statement from yesterday’s game (either true or false) and expand it into a short story

Thursday: Quick-write in journals // Finish and submit your Tall Tales story

Friday: Free-write Friday! The first submission to the Creative Writing portfolio is DUE (must be typed and shared via Google docs).
