INTENSIVE READING - 6TH AND 7TH GRADE

MON: Main idea/comprehension worksheets. Foods that Help/Badger. Multiple choice practice.

TUE: "Welcome to the Days of Olde" - comprehension practice worksheet p. 14-15. Discuss. Review together.

WED: Read and carefully discuss "Sonnet 18" by Shakespeare, and "The Great Colossus" by Emma Lazarus. Students will write their own "Welcome to America" poem.

THUR: Some students will read aloud their "Welcome to America" poem. Read and carefully discuss "Do not go gentle into that goodnight" by Dylan Thomas.

FRI: Design a statue for modern America that would welcome immigrants and/or visitors to our great country.


----All students should be ready 20-30 minutes each night.
