WEEK OF OCTOBER 23, 2023. **Subject to change

LATE WORK WILL BE GRADED AS ZERO. BE RESPONSIBLE.

TUES: Report cards. FRI: Picture Day!

Period 1: English HS (If absent, see “Period 1” folder for handouts).

TUES-FRI: “My Dead Brother Comes to America” reading aloud in class, discussion (participation) short story. Vocabulary, reading aloud in class, and post-reading activities (handouts).

Period 2: Reading/Literature/Film (IF ABSENT, see the “period 2” folder for makeup work).

MON-FRI: We will have two more assignments (handouts) for the short story, “The Most Dangerous Game.” Time permitting, we will start watching the film.

Period 3: ELA 6th Grade (IF ABSENT, see the “period 3” folder for makeup work).

MON: Essay is due first thing. We will work on Adjectives & Adverbs (handouts). HW: Write two sentences using an adjective and underline the adjective. Write two sentences using an adverb and underline the adverb.

TUES-FRI: We will begin learning about narrative writing (several handouts). We will be learning about and doing an assignment about sensory details and describing objects in preparation for narrative writing.

WED HW: Write two sentences each for the following three words (6 sentences total): gasp (verb), absurd (adjective), horribly (adverb).

Period 4: Ethics (IF ABSENT, see “period 4” folder for makeup work.)

MON: Finish watching “The Firm.” HW: Prepare a summary of the movie.

WED - FRI: Group work: Create your own ethical dilemma and present it.

IF YOU ARE ABSENT, see “period 4” folder for makeup work.

Period 5: STUDY HALL – 8th grade

This period is intended to offer additional time to complete assignments in all classes, absentee work, and afford help in 8th grade ELA. Come prepared to work and study. Grades are based upon dedication to study and behavior standards.

Period 6: Speech and Debate (no class Wednesdays)

November 3, 2023, is a scheduled field trip to the courthouse. You MUST have a permission slip.

MON, TUE, THURS, FRI: Argumentative speech practice, writing and speech.TOPIC:Should the U.S. ban Tic-Tok.
