WEEK OF MARCH 4, 2024.   **Subject to change

THURSDAY is TECH DAY (Free):  Those who may participate must have “C” or higher and no outstanding referrals.

FRIDAY:  SeaWorld trip.

MARCH 11 -14 IS SPRING BREAK – no school.

LATE WORK WILL BE GRADED AS ZERO unless you have a valid excuse for being late and you email me the night before asking me for an extension.

HW:  If you don’t turn in your HW, you will write a 5-paragraph essay: “Why it is Harmful to Not Do My Homework.”

NO NAME on the physical paper = Grade 0. 


Period 1:  English HS (If absent, see “Period 1” folder for handouts). 

MON:  Read “Saturday Afternoon” and discuss.  Participation graded.

TUES-FRI: “Saturday Afternoon” post-reading assignment. (essay for 9th grade, story for the rest).  The Assignment is due by FRIDAY end of the day whether you are going on a field trip or not. May be sent via email.

TUES NIGHT HW:  Write down the definition, part of speech, and two sentences for each of these words: prejudice, discrimination, racism.


Period 2:  Reading/Literature/Film (IF ABSENT, see the “period 2” make-up work folder).

MON:  Students will give slides presentations.

TUES:   The Outsiders.  Vocabulary Chapters 3 & 4.

WED-THURS:  The Outsiders.  Chapters 3 & 4 reading.

TUES night HW:  Write down the definition, part of speech, and two sentences for each of these words:  Fluffy, Stuffy, Puffy.

THURS: The Outsiders. Vocab quiz. Tech day activities for those who qualify, others will have an additional vocab activity. 

FRI: TBD


Period 3:  ELA 6th Grade (IF ABSENT, see the “period 3” make-up folder).

MON:  Essay on disabilities due. (handed out Friday).

MON-WED: Continued work on the novel Out of My Mind.  Vocab & Reading.

TUES. night HW:  Essay Introduction Paragraph Worksheet #1.

THURS: Vocab Quiz. Tech day activities for those who qualify; others will have an additional vocab activity.

FRI: TBD


Period 4:  Political Science (IF ABSENT, see “period 4” folder for makeup work.)

This week’s assignment is individual (due Friday or before):  Find a current event that is reported in news in the United States and two other countries new sites.  Write a paper comparing and contrasting how these news sites report the same story. Make sure to cite all 3 news stories correctly (in text and at the end of the paper).

 

Period 5:   STUDY HALL – 8th grade

This period is intended to offer additional time to complete assignments in all classes, absentee work, and afford help in 8th grade ELA.  Come prepared to work and study.  Grades are based upon dedication to study and behavior standards.


Period 6:  Creative Writing (no class Wednesdays)

During this semester, writing assignments will be given via written handouts with instructions.  They may be daily or over several days.
