Period 1: English 9/10

MON: Continue “Justice” unit. Poem writing assignment – “A Retrieved Reformation” due Tuesday at beginning of class.

TUES: Vocab (part of speech, definition, use in a sentence): Enveloped, fleecy, beleaguered, spasmodically, ascetic, flask, drought, parapet, shawl, turret, clattered, iodine, paroxysm, ruse, silhouetted, gibber.

WED-FRI and beyond: short story, “The Sniper (O’Flaherty). Comprehension activities for the story and essay about justice and war.

Period 2: ELA 6

MON: Essay Form (both sides) due at beginning of class. This includes the EVIDENCE and SOURCES that you will have from the research you did over the weekend.

MON - FRI: Continue argument essay work on: “People should really care about _____.” We will also cover editing and peer editing this week.

Period 3: Literacy

MON: Holes Vocabulary, Chapters 16-22. Uncertainly, Presumably, Supposedly, Challenging, Exhaust, Intently, Landlord, Wore, Obstacle, Appreciate, Previously, Evict, Considerably, Penetrating, Patience, Reciting, Callused, Moisture, Condemned, Shrill, Desolate, Coiled, Reconsidered, Dread, Writhed, Stranded, Deposited, Astonishment, Venom, Agony, Insane, Expand, Recede, Haze, Refuge, Defiance.

TUES – FRI: Read aloud Chapters 16-22 Holes and analyze. Do comprehension exercises and individual assessment on analogy, simile, and metaphor.

Period 4: English 11/12

MON: PRESENTATIONS on cures that didn’t work. Vocab for short story, “Harrison Bergeron:” vigilance, clammy (adj), handicap, transmitter, ballerinas, birdshot, doozy, temples (part of face), padlocked, bargain, impediment, hideous, luminous, calibrated, hindrances, whanging (adj), symmetry, consternation, willow (n), gravely, synchronizing.

TUES - FRI: Reading and activities pertaining to dystopian short story, “Harrison Bergeron.”

Period 5: ELA 7

MON: VOCAB DUE AT BEGINNING OF CLASS. Read non-fiction article about rogue waves and discuss.

TUES: Read aloud, Short Story, “Rogue Wave” txt p. 135.

WED: Individual Assessment Txt p. 147, group work, p. 148.

THURS: Thanksgiving meal.

FRI: Begin to cover story dialogue concepts.

Period 6: Law (no class Wednesdays)

MON-FRI: Continue Governmental regulations – discussions, resources, and assessments TBD. THURS – No class – Thanksgiving meal.
