Week 2 - Into the Swing of Things

Thank you students and parents for a great first week! I know that the weather didn't cooperate, but everyone did their best and pitched in to get us off to a great start. We have great students here at Micanopy Academy! This is a credit to the parents and the hard work they have put into raising these upstanding young citizens.


I encourage parents to check Skyward if they have the time. This will give you an idea as to how your child is doing and what assignments (if any) they are missing.


Monday 8/19

Economics - PowerPoint Presentation on Trade-Offs and Opportunity Costs. Students take notes, create scenarios & charts, and give examples.

World History - Finish PowerPoint Presentation on "The Stone Age." Students take notes.

Students read pages 6-10 in the textbook and define all terms in their notebook.

HW: Students complete classwork (finish reading pages 6-10 in the textbook and define all terms in their notebook.)

American History - Students complete review questions on page 15 if not already complete. Class will read pages 22 through 27 together and discuss.

Reading - Students complete Making Meaning Questions ("Raymond's Run") on page 12 of the textbook.


Tuesday 8/20

Economics - Class reads pages 13 through 16 together. Students complete questions on page 16.

World History - Begin PowerPoint Presentation on the "Agricultural Revolution." Students will take notes and complete activities.

American History - Students complete review questions on page 27. Class will review for quiz on Pre-Columbian Civilization, Native American Cultures, & European Heritage (p. 6-9, 10-15, 22-27, and corresponding notes.)

HW: Study for Quiz.

Reading - Students will complete Choices: Building Your Portfolio on page 13. Class will go over conflict and the different types of conflict on page 15 and complete a related activity.


Wednesday 8/21

Economics - Class will review for Quiz #1 (Fundamentals of Economics, Trade-Offs & Opportunity Costs, and Production Possibilities)

HW: Study for Quiz.

World History - Finish PowerPoint on the "Agricultural Revolution." Students will take notes and complete activities.

HW: Study for Quiz.

American History - Quiz #1 on Pre-Columbian Civilization, Native American Cultures, & European Heritage

Reading - Class will complete pre-reading activities for the story "Ms. Flowers" on page 19. Then, class will begin reading "Ms. Flowers" on pages 20 through 24.


Thursday 8/22

Economics - Quiz #1 (Fundamentals of Economics, Trade-Offs & Opportunity Costs, and Production Possibilities)

World History - Review for Quiz #1 (Origins of Humanity, The Stone Age, & The Agricultural Revolution)

American History - Begin PowerPoint on the Age of Exploration. Students will take notes, watch videos, and complete corresponding activities.

Reading - Class will finish reading "Ms. Flowers" on pages 20 through 24 and complete the Making Meaning Questions on page 25.


Friday 8/23

Economics - PowerPoint on "3 Key Economics Questions." Students will take notes and complete corresponding activities.

World History - Quiz #1 (Origins of Humanity, The Stone Age, & The Agricultural Revolution)

American History - Finish PowerPoint on the Age of Exploration. Students will take notes, watch videos, and complete corresponding activities.

Reading - Students will complete Choices: Building Your Portfolio on page 26. Students will turn in their notebooks at the end of class.
