Note: This Agenda Blog is only an approximate plan of the weekly lesson plans. Changes can and will be made due to unanticipated circumstances and in order to maximize instructional effectiveness.


Government

Monday – The Mass Media. Class will review and discuss pages 228 to 236 together. Students will complete the Section 3 Assessment on page 236.

HW: (Due Wednesday) Students have already written a 10 question poll on a given political topic. Students will finish conducting the poll (at least 30 individuals) and they will write a 300 word reflection on the process and the results.

Tuesday – Chapter 8 Assessment. Students will complete the Chapter 8 Assessment (Questions 1 through 10) on page 238. Students must write questions. (Due Wednesday)

Wednesday – Public Polling. Students will share their poll results with the class.

Thursday – Chapter 7 & 8 Review.

Friday – Chapter 7 & 8 Test.


English Honors

Monday – Sentence Diagrams. Students will write ten sentences and diagram them. Each sentence must contain a subject, verb, article, adjective, adverb, conjunction, direct object, and two prepositional phrases.

Tuesday – Vocabulary. Students will receive this weeks vocabulary list. Class will read and review the list. Students will write each vocabulary word in a sentence with context clues demonstrating their understanding of the vocabulary word. Students will use remaining time to study their previous vocabulary lists.

Wednesday – Haikus. Students will learn what Haiku poetry is and write a series of Haikus on topics provided by the teacher.

Thursday – A Hanging. Students will read the personal essay “A Hanging” by George Orwell on pages 1168 to 1173 in the textbook. Students will answer Thinking Through Literature Questions on page 1174 (1 through 7).

Friday – Vocabulary Test.


8th Grade American History

Monday – Indian Removal. Class will read pages 355 through 359. Students will define all terms, complete checkpoint questions, and complete the Section 4 Check Your Progress Questions (1 through 4) on page 359.

Tuesday – States Rights and the Economy. Class will read pages 362 through 367. Students will define all terms, complete checkpoint questions, and complete the Section 5 Check Your Progress Questions (1 through 5) on page 367.

Wednesday – NO CLASS (FSA Writing Test)

Thursday – Chapter 10 Review.

Friday – Chapter 10 Test.
